OUR STORY

The world of Indi & Clem

I’m Alice, mum of three, and I design our jackets from my kitchen table in Shropshire. The business is named after my daughters India and Clementine. My son Arthur says he doesn’t mind because actually, he came up with the name anyway!

Ever since first visiting India in 2002, I have adored the vibrant colours and bold patterns of Indian textiles. I think clothes should be fun and make the wearer happy, and it seemed perfect to involve block print in the jacket designs. I work closely with the wonderful team in Jaipur who carries out the many steps in the manufacture process from cotton sourcing, masterful wood-block printing and expert tailoring.

My motivation comes from personal enjoyment of choosing clothing for my children, particularly traditional, heirloom styles that stand the test of time. My mother carefully stored away much of what my sisters and I wore in the eighties and nineties, and still look great worn on children today! A treasured little coat kickstarted my inspiration, and during lockdown the first designs took shape.

Our quilted jacket in blossom print is the result of this vintage design combined with beautifully crafted block-printed quilted fabric, available in children's and adult sizes.

I hope you love what we create and thank you for your support!
